The Fly By Light Performance Troupe is the flagship professional performance and visual arts group of One Common Unity. The troupe consists of DC-Metro area youth who demonstrate a strong talent, passion, and commitment to performance and visual artistry as their central career focus.
The Making of Transformative Artists
The Performance Troupe is part of our flagship Fly By Light program.
Our troupe artists train as transformative artists through the practice of “intentional creation” where they concentrate on creating art that centers around OCU’s five pillars (arts expression, environmental leadership, social justice, social-emotional learning, and health & wellness).
Youth artists from the ages of 14-24 take part in an ongoing year-long program where they receive hands-on field experiences, artist training, and resources.
They work alongside professional arts leaders and business artists locally and nationally to develop the skills necessary to build sustainable careers in performance and visual arts.
Through the innovative Performance Troupe, youth artists receive the following benefits:
