Baba Ras D, which means “Father of Kings and Queens” is one of One Common Unity’s most veteran facilitators. From 2003 – 2007 he directed our Revel Youth Shine youth program, designed to keep young men and women between the ages of 7 – 25 years of age engaged in positive self, family, and community oriented activities through music. Additionally he has worked at Oak Hill Academy, a juvenile detention center in Laurel, MD to provide key services to youth in literacy enrichment and character development in an effort to derail the negative effects of educational neglect and poor decision making among the incarcerated youth. Lastly, Baba Ras D has 28 years of experience as a Behavioral Modification Specialist within the Juvenile Justice Administration. He has used compassionate communication as a means of building the capacity of trust between facilitators and scholars creating an environment where we celebrate learning through movement and song.
