Brittany Nixon

Development Director

As a native daughter of the DMV, having witnessed first-hand the rapid economic growth of the region, Brittany is personally and professionally dedicated to increasing equitable access to resources for historically marginalized communities.

Brittany studied Psychology at Xavier University of Louisiana and, over the past 10 years, has worked in all facets of non-profit development, including grant writing and management; corporate, government and foundation relations; and the execution of impactful fundraising events. As OCU’s Development Director, Brittany is responsible for implementing new cultivation strategies, fostering relationships with OCU’s growing donor base, and increasing donor contributions and retention. In addition, Brittany is working to grow robust partnerships and grant funding opportunities to further OCU’s impact in creating compassionate and healthy communities.

Brittany volunteers for and advises several local community organizations that are dedicated to eradicating poverty and helping communities of color to thrive. In her free time, Brittany enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and loved ones.
