One Common Unity to ‘Elevate Peace’ on November 14th
Fundraiser to feature performances by ‘Fly By Light’ program alumni and more
WASHINGTON (September 18, 2019) – For almost twenty years, One Common Unity has invested in breaking cycles of violence in Washington DC and the greater metropolitan area, through the power of the arts and peace education with youth. To commemorate two decades of transformative work, OCU invites the public to attend ‘Elevate Peace’ on November 14th from 6:30-8:30PM, at the Josephine Butler Parks Center.
The event, which will feature speakers such as OCU’s founder, artist and educator Hawah Kasat as well as various youth artists, is also an opportunity for OCU to thank donors and other community partners, as well as showcase some of what their work has produced. This year, for instance, their flagship ‘Fly By Light’ program will reach at least 20 DC schools, and they will be embarking on a school social work program in order to expand their support to youth in the DC Metropolitan area.
Among the youth artists featured at ‘Elevate Peace’ are three of Fly By Light’s alumni – Dougie D, Nfinity Zhy and Isaiah King – performing ‘Peace & Positivity’, a song recorded with support from the organization.
‘Elevate Peace’ takes place on November 14th, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, at the Josephine Butler Parks Center. Tickets begin at $100, with options for further support for those interested. For more information, call One Common Unity at (202) 765-3757 or email at .
