Johneé Wilson

Community-Based Senior Program Facilitator

Johneé Wilson, Benjamin A Gilman Scholar and graduate of the American University (AU) School of International Service, dedicates herself to work at the intersection, of global service, youth leadership development, and creative storytelling. In 2022, while abroad, Johneé co-designed resiliency models for youth leadership and wellness programs with a nonprofit in Abuja and Lagos. She returned in 2023 to monitor and evaluate the fidelity of programming across 60 schools in Nigeria. Later, she moved to São Paulo, Brazil (2022) to serve as the research team lead for the Dope Diaspora Project, an independent study on the evolution of female empowerment through a socioeconomic lens of African diasporic music and language. Returning to DC, with working proficiency in Portuguese, she presented this research to AU’s College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Board. The following year, in Accra, she met with Yaw Osei Adutwum, Ghana’s Minister of Education, to understand how free compulsory education may increase matriculation among school-aged kids to strengthen US-Ghana relations within higher education. “As a former employee (2020-2022), I am beyond enthused to reintegrate into OCU’s climate and culture as a Senior Program Facilitator and help implement and strengthen community relationships with young people through Peace Together’s therapeutic interventions.”
