Ladonna Matchett

Community Based Therapist

Ladonna is a registered Dance/Movement Therapist with a background as a performing artist. Originally from Houston, TX, Ladonna began performing at a young age leading her to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Texas at Austin. She has since utilized the arts as a means of social commentary, activism, emotional expression, and socio-emotional and socio-cultural support.

Following undergraduate studies Ladonna served as a dance educator and Director of the Dance Department at a Houston I.S.D. school prior to completing her Master of Arts in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling at Drexel University. The lack of resources within the school system and violence within the community which she taught and served led her to pursue a path that would intertwine her passion for the arts and activism with therapeutic processes that she could utilize to better serve her community.

She is passionate about understanding the intersectionality of identities, social justice, advocacy, and understanding and healing of intergenerational trauma through artistic expression and a reclaiming of communal identities.

Her other interests include poetry, cooking, yoga, hiking, spending time with friends and family, as well as a good brunch!
